Best known for its role in the historic Golden Spike Ceremony at Promontory Summit, Utah, the Jupiter became a lasting symbol of the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad. Produced by the Edwin M. Knowles China Company, this collector plate was manufactured as a limited edition restricted to 150 firing days and bears its original manufacturer backstamp, Bradex number, and individual plate number.

Historical Background
Built in 1868 for the Central Pacific Railroad, the Jupiter earned its place in American history on May 10, 1869, when it participated in the Golden Spike Ceremony at Promontory Summit, Utah. Together with Union Pacific's locomotive No. 119, the Jupiter marked the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad, permanently linking the eastern and western United States by rail.
The completion of the transcontinental railroad transformed travel, commerce, and communication across the nation, dramatically reducing cross-country travel times and helping unite a rapidly growing country. Although the original Jupiter was later scrapped, faithful operating replicas preserve its legacy today, making it one of the most recognizable steam locomotives in American history.
